Julianne Eveleigh

Bio

Hello, I’m Julianne Eveleigh. I am a voice and Alexander Technique specialist with a background in performing arts. For the past 30 years I have worked with performers, professionals, students and other members of the community to explore breath, movement, voice, coordination and communication. My work focusses on the dynamic relationship between mind and body.

I began learning the Alexander Technique 25 years ago to improve my posture, coordination and overall mobility. I was dealing with stiffness in my lower back, legs and pelvis as well as experiencing the discomfort of sciatic pain, which disappeared once I started having lessons and learned the importance of the head-spine-pelvis relationship.

I realised that I was misusing my body daily in activities like sitting, walking and lifting. By doing these simple actions badly, I was compounding the problem and causing inflexibility and lack of mobility. Importantly, I discovered that my thoughts and attitude to my body, and how I moved, contributed to my overall lack of coordination and awareness. I also applied the principles of the Alexander Technique to swimming, and I conquered my fear of putting my head under the water. I learned how to swim easily, gliding through the water without effort. The Alexander Technique taught me how how to cooperate with my human design to increase ease in thinking and moving.

I teach the Alexander Technique in my studio in Ballarat, in both small group and one-on-one classes. Please contact me to find out more.
